Thinking Outside the Box

Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lethbridge, Alta., was an active LWMLC society in years past. About five years ago Edna Mackenzie moved to Lethbridge. She has been a long-time member of LWML – approximately 50 years active.

Edna has been contemplating how to support LWMLC projects, including the five projects accepted at the final ABC convention last June in Red Deer, Alta.

Wishing to reduce her personal library of books, the best option requiring the least amount of work and volunteers was “have a book sale.” During the month of September many books were on display in the narthex. They were advertised for sale, but it really was “take a book(s) and donations appreciated.” The members of the congregation, visitors, and parents of Little Lambs Preschool were most generous. At the end of the month $571.60 plus a gift of $60 was received and forwarded to assist in achieving our mission grant goal.

The remaining books were dispersed to the Lethbridge Senior Centre, local thrift stores and condo and church libraries.
