Still Waiting on the Marigolds

Still Waiting on the Marigolds

A while back I wrote a blog about planting some marigolds from seed, and quoted Ecclesiastes 3:1-2. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot.”

Well I planted, and waited, and here it is towards the later part of May, and I still do not have flowers on the marigold plants. They are growing, and they look healthy, but as yet do not have any buds or flowers. Needless to say, God wants me to wait so He can show me His handiwork in His own time.

There are a few verses that remind us to wait on the Lord, such as Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take hear and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 130:5 “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.”

Isaiah 30:18 “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!”

So now I wait and I do feel blessed. It could take another month until those marigolds show their faces, but in the meantime I am thankful that God is showing me that he is still at work in my garden, as the clematis in my back yard is in full bloom, and both my rose bushes are full of buds. I am sure that God will reward me with some marigolds soon. Until then, I am content to wait.
