LWMLC Parkland Zone, ABC District, Meets for Fall Rally 2023

The LWMLC societies of Torrington and Didsbury hosted twenty ladies and a few gentlemen at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Didsbury, Alta., on September 23, 2023. The gentlemen in our lives have helped with our LWMLC efforts in various ways, looking after meals, providing transportation, looking after the little ones, or carrying LWMLC supplies to and fro. THANK YOU!

Fresh baked goodies and coffee greeted the LWMLC ladies and were much appreciated – especially for those who drove two hours to attend.

Meaghan Maskowitz welcomed all the ladies and opened the business meeting with the League pledge and a devotion entitled “Blessings Do Abound” written by Patricia Lach Kreutzwieser. This may have been the fastest business meeting ever at one of our rallies.

A small ceremony was held for our dearly departed LWMLC sisters: Donna Schmuland, Margaret Henke, Lorna Reese, Ida Kihn, and Emma Ehrmann. It was followed by a Bible study entitled “Celebrate Like There is a Tomorrow,” prepared by the Christian Growth Committee in celebration of the 30th anniversary of LWMLC and led by Meaghan Maskowitz.

Lunch included four amazing homemade soups, buns/biscuits and dessert – perfect for an autumn day. An offering of $270 was collected for Mites.

Shirley Hearty led the afternoon activities, giving each a “Daily Survival Kit.” The ladies coloured a puzzle piece while she talked about how we are unique and about sharing our gifts, as well as providing news from the LWMLC board of directors. She collected the finished puzzle pieces and will put them together with others from ladies across ABC District.

Afternoon refreshments and cookies were provided before departure. A cookie may also have slipped into my purse for the drive home. We look forward to seeing everyone again and, we hope, more ladies, at the LWMLC Parkland Spring Retreat at the 4-H Centre the last weekend of April.
