EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION KEY TO SUCCESS
How are we doing?
Effective communication is crucial for any organization’s success and LWMLC Inc. is no different. The LWMLC communication committee is responsible for making sure that all our members, from the society level all the way up to the national board of directors, know what is happening and if they have questions, who they should contact. With an organization that spans the country, it takes a bit more than just having a directory. As well as communicating with our members across the country, the Communication Committee also helps facilitate communication between the LWMLC committees.
Did you know of some of the following ways that we help keep information flowing and support the important work of LWMLC Inc.?
● The VP of Communication is the key person in all these areas.
1. Keeps a list of all key contacts for each society across the country. This is the job of the data manager.
2. Has a committee member from each of the four districts who communicates to the national committee about the work of her district.
3. Sees that the website is kept up to date by a variety of people.
a. Webmaster: updates all information as communicated to her from the VP of Communication – everything from updating the upcoming events, posting devotions and prayer calendars, LWMLC Sunday resources, district newsletters and many other items you need to know.
b. The resource catalogue – the Member Development Committee oversees this catalogue of resources, gifts and supplies and provides updates and changes to the communication committee.
c. The Download on Demand database – the Christian Growth Committee oversees the content of this database and provides any updates and changes to the communication committee.
d. Events calendar – includes events on a society, zone, district and national level.
4. Webinars – Provides a trained group of individuals who can serve as the production team to aid other committees in hosting webinars, webinars that provide things like training, sharing updates on our grants to mission projects, etc.
5. Web Meetings – Makes sure the head of each committee is set up with an email address and trained in how to host virtual meetings.
6. The LWML-Canada Inc. Update – Gathers submissions from LWMLC committees, compiles the information and schedules the sending twice a month.
7. Social media presence – Posts by our social media coordinator on Facebook and Instagram are overseen by the communication committee.
8. Our official publication, Tapestry – Provides support to the editor-in-chief and her editorial team as they produce this quarterly magazine under the umbrella of the VP Communication.
9. YouTube resources – In collaboration with various LWMLC Inc. committees oversees the production of various video resources.
That’s a lot of communicating. We’re happy to do it and grateful for all the skilled and talented women who assist us. But is it effective? Only you can answer that?
