A Cheerful Giver

A Cheerful Giver

In 2 Corinthians 9:7 it says, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver.” (NIV)

It is my belief that God has instilled a special nurturing and empathetic heart, especially in women, to provide for the needs of others. This can sometimes become an overwhelming feeling.  We are confronted, sometimes bombarded with requests -the food bank, the women’s emergency centre, war torn countries, hungry children (and adults) around the world, mission outreach groups, the homeless and many others.

Not only can it become overwhelming for those who are being solicited but organizers are constantly being challenged to produce ideas of how to make it successful.

Just to generate some enthusiasm for the monthly mission project at our church we have developed a “Mission Corner” in the fellowship hall.

Each month a new display appears based on the project of the month. Recently a collection of funds for CLWR Flocks of Chickens saw a dressmakers mannequin dressed in a life size chicken costume surrounded by feeding stations and other farm décor. It generated a smile and hopefully a donation.

For a convention ingathering for the homeless, a tent, clothesline firewood and blankets brought thoughts of the daily struggles of these individuals and their basic needs that we could supply.

These are some little things that we can do to accomplish great things through Him who gives us strength just as our LWMLC Inc.  Mite donations, no matter how small, can make a big difference to the lives of those we support through our Mission Grants.
