God’s GPS

Having recently returned from a trip, I found that the GPS didn’t always seem reliable. I sometimes felt like I had no idea where I was going. Could I trust the directions or should I go to my paper map?  I generally used a combination of both. And if I was familiar with the road, I didn’t need GPS or a map; my comfort zone of knowing where I was going.

What about you? Do you depend completely on the GPS even though you don’t really have control? I like to be in control so it’s hard for me to let go and trust the GPS.

What about your spiritual life? Do you relinquish control, depending completely on God to guide you? Or do you trust your own understanding or intuition? It’s a work in progress for me; trusting God and then grabbing back control.

The Bible tells me, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path” Proverbs 3:5,6

I need to acknowledge God. How do I do that? The easy familiar road is attending church each Sunday. The more difficult path for me is sharing my love of Jesus with people I meet; in the grocery store, the homeless on the street, those of a different faith. With the Holy Spirit’s guidance, I am working on that.

Psalm 119:105 says “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” The Bible is the guidebook.  A lamp only shows a bit so our feet don’t stumble but a light gives more to see the path. Sometimes I only see a bit like a lamp. As I move forward in faith, the light to my path shines bright. I’m not in control but the Lord has shown me what to do.

I’m sticking with God’s GPS (God’s Perfect Solution).  When I’m not sure, I STOP! I need to wait for His direction. His guidance on life’s journey never leads me wrong.
