Feed My Body, Feed My Soul

How do you feed your body? Do you eat when you’re hungry or when it is “time” to eat? Do we know what it is like to suffer because there isn’t enough food? God provides our daily bread and has blessed us with plenty to share with others. How uplifting is it to experience the joy and fellowship of sharing a meal together?

How do you feed your soul? Do you take time daily to refresh your soul? Do you use the sabbath as a weekly rest and recharge through the hearing of God’s Word. Are you strengthened by receiving the benefit of confession and absolution? Does joy resound in your heart when you praise and worship our Triune God? In humble adoration do we receive the Lord’s Supper as a memorial meal commemorating Jesus’ death and resurrection? All these elements feed and nourish our soul.

Have you been able to participate in mid-week Lenten servicesenriching your connection with God and deepening your understanding of Jesus’ Passion? Perhaps you are a part of a continuing Bible study, regularly feeding your soul. I encourage you to also seek out opportunities to retreat away for a day or even the full weekend, I know of several retreats offered across our district. Check out the Events Calendar on https://lutheranwomen.ca/ for a location near you.

If you already have the recipe devotional booklet, Feed My Body, Feed My Soul, available from the LWMLC Resource Centre, I encourage you to take time to read through the devotions and try out the recipes; you may find a new favourite. As I travel throughout the Alberta – British Columbia Districtthis triennium, feeding my body and feeding my soul, I am sharing this devotional. I will collect pictures of items made from the recipes as well as other favourite recipes. The collection will be a great reminder of how the Lord blesses us both in body and soul. I look forward to meeting the women of my district and renewing our friendship at one of the zone events. May we continue to be fed in love and mercy by our gracious Lord and Saviour, until we meet at the Great Feast in the kingdom of God.
