Better than an Ox
Israel’s priests sacrificed oxen and other animals in the temple to atone for the sins of the people. This was God’s command. But sacrificing an ox is not what we Christians do. We know that Christ’s once for all sacrifice on the cross ended the Old Testament daily sacrifices.
What IS better than an ox? Psalm 69:29-31 says, “I am afflicted and in pain. May Your salvation, O God, set me securely on high. I will praise the name of God with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving. And it will please the Lord better than an ox…you who seek God let your heart revive.”
Better than the rising of the smoke from a burning animal, our joyful praise in song to the God of our salvation rises to Him. It is pleasing to the Lord when we magnify Him with thanksgiving.
So ladies, lift up your voices in song, let your heart revive.
