Dollardrama

Dollardrama
As I was leaving the library one day, two elderly women were walking towards me. They asked
where the courthouse was as they needed to go and pay a parking ticket. I said, “You need to
pay the ticket at city hall. What happened?” The women were visiting on a day trip from the
USA and forgot to put the handicapped sticker in the window of their car. So now the one lady
is holding a traffic ticket for parking in a handicapped space. O my! “What were you doing here
in St. Catharines?” “We were shopping at the Dollardrama!” “Well, I’ll walk you over to city
hall.” Thinking they had no Canadian money, I asked, “How will you pay?” “Credit card.” I was
hoping the violations officer would have mercy on these two women as I left them at the
entrance of the building. With heartfelt thanks and a big hug, the ladies stepped inside to pay
the ticket.
What drama are you having in your life today? Is it something that can be fixed like the two
women I met? Or is it ongoing drama that never seems to end? Our Savior had drama in His life
too. The drama of dying on the cross to save us from our sins. But He paid the price, the price of
atonement that gives us eternal life. The women paid a price for an unintentional mistake.
What mistakes have you made”? Harsh words to a loved one? Ignoring someone at church
because you don’t like them? A critical spirit? Harmful deeds? You pay a price for not following
the commandments but you can’t make it right. You are condemned. Only the Lord can pay
that price as He died on the cross. Only by God’s mercy can we extend to others forgiveness
and reconciliation. Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.

UPDATE: I was informed that if it was a first infraction and you had proof of the handicapped sticker, you did not have to pay a violation fee. Good news for those ladies!
