Sunflowers or Sonflowers

“Sunflowers or Sonflowers”

We live in a desert section near Vernon, BC called Desert Cove. It is quite dry here with very sandy soil. We do not have any grass, and most of our front and back yards are in rock. I have a small rhubarb patch and some roses and flowers that we have to irrigate to keep them alive.

A couple of years ago, my husband wanted a project, so he saved sunflower seeds from friends and neighbors and started some sunflowers. Early each spring he plants them along the side of our house. We have about a dozen very large and very pretty sunflower plants. They are bright and cheery and people who walk by say that the sight of them makes them smile.

This made me think, that maybe we too could be “Sonflowers” spreading the love, joy and beauty of our Lord Jesus to others to help them through their day, especially in the world of turmoil that we currently live in. We could make the effort to be bright and cheery to all we meet. Let us all think about sharing the love of Jesus as Christ’s Sunflowers. Enjoy your day as God’s “Sonflowers!”
