(NEW) Prayer, Mental Health and Spiritual Growth: Using the resources of our Faith during times like this (Webinar) Presented by Rev. Dr. Richard Beinert The webinar is divided into 2 parts: Luther’s spiritual theology and the modern sense of mental health. Rev. Beinert covers a broad spectrum of mental health. Modern psychology uses a holistic approach of the human individual to shape todays views. From Luther’s perspective we are saint and sinner, the old Adam and the Holy Spirit struggle inside of us. Luther‘s insights into the source of our inner struggles are speculative thoughts, fantasies (imagination) and passions (feelings). In part #2 we embrace our weakness and are led to repentance and confession allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us. We learn it’s okay to fall apart, to let go of our thoughts and learn to pray and meditate on Scripture, so we can be recreated and anchored by our triune God. Timing of the PowerPoint video is 1 ½ hours.

(NEW) Called to Speak (Webinar/Video–Written Script) Purposeful conversations of Christ centered faith! The inspiration for this webinar came from a presentation by Lisa Jackson from Lutheran Laymen’s League and Lutheran Hour Ministries, titled “Spiritual Conversations” along with the book “The Reluctant Witness” by Dan Everts. The webinar covers three spiritual postures of people toward the Gospel (Unreceptive Non-Christians; Receptive Non-Christians; Seeking Non-Christians) and six types of conversations to have with those spiritual postures. By these examples we learn how to adapt our conversations with our non-Christian friends. The key verse is John 1:6-8, John the Baptist was sent by God to bear witness to the Light. We have been commissioned by Jesus to “Go” and do the same as commanded in Matthew 28:18. Faith is created when the Word of Christ is preached or proclaimed. God has a role and purpose for us, so we are “Called to Speak” This script has been written to go with the PowerPoint. The Power Point includes Scripture verses, charts and helpful illustrations to support the presentation. The video has the Power Point included. The length of the video is 30 minutes, allow time for sharing.
